Text edit issue

When I first started posting I could edit the text a bit like in word or open office with bullet points etc, now I have added a video uploader I just get a bigger version of the edit bar with small boxes with letters like b i link b-quote code ol ul li

How do I get the original text edit tools to appear, where have they gone? any help would be great..
