the bbpress search function works with private groups – unless you know different!
Other search functions in WordPress and themes may or may not – I cannot control these.
I’m having the same issue, but when I put the bbPress search widget in my sidebar, it doesn’t even show up.

Got the bbPress search widget to show up, but it still shows all forum results regardless of usergroup restrictions.

It works! I had to run the forum repair tools and seems to be working fine now.
