Account not recognized through personal website

I have recently done the very barest minimums of setting up a wordpress.org website, hosted by hostpapa. I am trying to install a plugin that will mean I can actually easily edit my website because at the moment I have no idea what I am doing. I have done online research and people have said to go to the domain of the website with ‘/wp-admin’ after, which I did, and then tried to log in through wordpress on my website which is not at all set up, and I have tried to log in around eight times with the correct account information, and it would not work, and would tell me when I went to the forgotten password section, that there is no account with my username or email, but when I logged in through this website, it works, but not through my website. Please help, I really want to be able to get to an actual wordpress.org dashboard where I can install plug-ins to make everything actually doable for my website.
