More frustrations after a month
-
I bashed Gutenberg after the first time I tried to use it. Since I thought I might have been unfair in my initial assessment, I decided to give it another try.
It’s still crap. I need the ability to add images to code blocks. You would think this would be a fairly basic component of creating a modern webpage. But I really don’t think it’s possible. I can create an image in an image block, then switch to HTML and copy the image into a code block. Even then, it doesn’t seem like this new code format is compatible with my lightbox plugin.
The image block appears to only allow a single image to be selected at one time. God forbid you want to add more than one image at a time?
The icons suck. I get why phones use icons, but I use WordPress primarily on a laptop or desktop. There’s plenty of screen real estate. I shouldn’t have to memorize what each button does.
I hope the WordPress team didn’t pat themselves on the back for this garbage they pumped out into the wild. Given the ratings, I seriously hope WordPress goes back to the drawing board to truly evaluate the needs of their users…
