• I recently used the Import HTML 2 plugin to import the static pages on my existing statically coded Web site.
I imported a whole lot of material including material I didn’t particularly want to get.
I had to go through the material and delete everything I didn’t want while editing everything I wanted to use and publishing it.
The idea is that all of the links to these static pages will be exactly the same as was on the statically coded pages.
Example: ‘http://www.fubar.net/newpage’ on the static site will have the same content as when I put the WordPress site into operation.
One of my pages keep changing to ‘-2’. Example: ‘http://www.fubar.net/newpage’ keeps saving as ‘http://www.fubar.net/newpage-2’. Yes, I know it suggests that it is a duplicate of an existing page.
I’ve tried editing out the ‘-2’ and saving it again. But the ‘-2’ always comes back.
I’ve looked through the remaining imported pages. But I am unable to locate anything with a URL that looks remotely like it. I have already deleted more than seven hundred pieces of extraneous information. I still can’t locate the offending page. If I could find it, I would just delete it.
Has anyone else experienced an issue like that?
I would like to hear any suggesitons on how to resolve this. It is very important that this URL be exactly the same.

suggestion: go in to the database to remove items with -2 if they are not needed
database is usually accessible in webhosting account
    look in PHPMYADMIN area

look in posts table to find items you want to remove

if you are not sure how to find database, contact your webosting support team for guidance.

make a backup copy of your database before editing or deleting anything.

The page has to be totally gone, as in deleted from the Trash also.
It could also be that you have a taxonomy with that same name, so the slug is already used.
