What’s the state of your install? I mean, is your blog fully functioning but just not on 2.8?
If you are on 2.7.1 and it’s working try this:
1. Backup and get ready to restore just in case (always, always, always a good idea):

2. De-activate ALL of your plugins and switch to the default theme. This is only temporary.
3. Do the upgrade.
If it goes well, then switch your theme back and re-activate your plugins.
If it does not go well you can always restore your blog back to the way it was and try upgrading the old fashioned way.

Good luck.
I ran the 2.8 auto install and I think it stopped before it completed. Any page I go to now gives me that error.

Not good. Can you try backing up your files and then upload the WordPress 2.8 files on top of your install?
Once that’s done try http://YOUR-URL/wp-admin/ and see if it lets you in.
Do the install manually, via FTP. Basically, after a failed upgrade, X not found means that the files didn’t get fully updated. Simply uploading the correct files will probably fix it.
Ok thanks, it turns out all I had to do was copy the files over and everything works fine. I just couldn’t do it before because I was at work and FTP wasn’t working for some reason.
I’ve done everything suggested above and still get the same error. 🙁
