• I had trouble with setting up the header of site. I got help which was take off the logo and use the image as header background.
    So now I have the image as header background and it still was not right. So I have been playing with every setting. If I go to main settings and adjust the logo spacing from top it changes the background. I now have found that by setting the spacing on the logo, that is nonexistent, to 80 from top and 80 from bottom it looks great.

    Now I think you should publicize this. How many people would play with those settings if they are not using a logo? Why would you do that if you have no logo?

    You probably can tell I am frustrated. I have two wp sites and I adjust them every year or two because it is such a nightmare.

    Under main settings if I start at the top where is says wide site or boxed, right now mine is boxed. If I chose wide the computer crashes and I have to reboot.

    Now I am trying the new styling block editor. It doesn’t put stuff where you really want it or get it to look like what you really want. If I could click on an element and drag it over a bit that would help. But that is out of the question.

    Right now I have my blog showing up at the bottom of the page and also on the side. I bet that with less then 60 mouse clicks I can figure out why. I will go through theme options and widgets customize and all the settings till I find out why.

  • Hey,
    Sorry to hear your frustrated. I hope I can help!

    Let me try to explain what’s going on which will hopefully help.

    A background image does not define space or the size of the content. It is only a background for the content that is there. Background images can not define the size of your header. When you place a background on your header it’s the background for the size of that header container. The headers size is determined by the logo and menu.

    So when you increase the padding around the logo that increases the height of hte header. Even if there is no logo there to take up space that padding is there to increase the header height. Thus making it so your background image has to cover a larger area.

    Before I move off your header I strongly suggest you take the text off your image:

    http://jenleecare.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/12/banner4.jpg

    And just set that image as the background and with a new image that has the text, I suggest you make that the logo with a transparent background. That would allow you to create a responsive design with your site header so it looks good on all screen sizes.

    Under main settings if I start at the top where is says wide site or boxed, right now mine is boxed. If I chose wide the computer crashes and I have to reboot

    That is certainly strange to hear. I want to make sure I understand. The moment you click on the wide image to define a wide layout your local computer crashes? Do you see a blue screen? Or a black screen? What browser are you using? Have you tried another browser?

    In terms of the block editor. What item are you trying to move? Which block, the blocks can be dragged around in the new block editor. Would it be possible for you to link to a page where you are having this issue and tell me where you want the item on the page to be?

    In your theme options > home layout, you have enabled a sidebar. You can turn that off there, then you won’t have the sidebar with your widget showing.

    Please follow up so I can help further! Again sorry to hear you are frustrated.

    Okay I am way over 60 clicks. I have gone through every setting I could find and I can not find out how to get the blog post off the bottom of the page. I found the setting for the blog on the side of the page and took it on off but not the bottom.

    In my hunt for that setting I was at the typography page and decided to change my h1 heading font from 38 to 28. Soon as I clicked that the computer crashed and needed a hard reboot. Don’t have any trouble with any other programs crashing.

    In your theme options > home layout, there is a home layout manager. You can drag items from enabled to disabled. There you would just need to drag latest posts to the disabled.

    See here: https://www.kadencethemes.com/creating-a-home-page-with-virtue/#free_home_options

    If your local computer is crashing that means the browser on your computer is crashing. Which means the browser it running out of memory. Have you tried another browser?

    Thank you so much Ben! You are such a bright spot in the last two days.
    I will work on the above things and I can live with the computer crashes for now.

    I just started to carefully modify the real site which is unique3phase.com.

    And I did add the site wide header banner which is important at this time. Unfortunately the text is fuzzy because I can not type the text there. I have to do a photo.

    But now the next problem. If I have the site open in the browser and make it smaller at some point the text disappears and a little icon shows up. I remember that Icon but I have searched for an hour on every setting and I cannot find how that is there. If I search in the media library it shows the attachment page but is no help on why.

    In this real site I tried to avoid the photo text but as you can see it is not responsive but I am getting away with the photo text on the jenleecare site as that does act responsive.

    I would like to put the picture on the jenlee header to the real site with out screwing the whole thing up. I do have backup buddy and have made backups but would like to avoid that nightmare.

    You know the little icons on the bottom of the customize thing? If I have the site open in that and click desk top it shows okay. If I click tablet the screen is smaller and the text is off the screen, and if I click mobile phone then the text is way off, but that little icon picture never shows up. How can that be? If a person uses those icons for their preview it is not accurate.

    (@dougw200788)

    On the jenlee site the header is background photo with text made in photoshop. That image does act responsive and it looks good enough because the text is big.

    The unique3phase site has the text on the header as logo text with logo tag line and that does not act responsive. Well the logo tagline text is responsive but the site title text is not. Maybe it is too big? There is no warning on allowed size. I don’t see that little icon picture on the mobile setting any more so I must have gotten rid of it.

    I thought that you should not have your site header text on a photo for google seo reasons. But that is the only way it works as far as i can see.

    Hey,
    In your unique3phase.com site, go to theme options > advanced settings and add this into the custom css box. It will make your site title change size as the screen gets smaller.

    body #kad-banner #logo a.brand {
        font-size: 40px;
    }
    @media (min-width: 480px) {
        body #kad-banner  #logo a.brand {
            font-size: 70px;
        }
    }
    @media (min-width: 768px) {
        body #kad-banner  #logo a.brand {
            font-size: 100px;
        }
    }
    @media (min-width: 992px) {
        body #kad-banner  #logo a.brand {
            font-size: 120px;
        }
    }
    @media (min-width: 1200px) {
        body #kad-banner #logo a.brand {
            font-size: 150px;
        }
    }

    Let me know if that helps.

    I have some text right at the top of the home page on unique3phase.com site rotary converter transformer converter… Is there any way to not have this text green. I have tried editing in the editor on the edit page and the live editor thing but nothing changes that text. I tried changing font and changing heading style and changing color and anything else I could but it just stays the same. It does change styles in the live editor but after I save it it is the same.
    Tried to change that text to italicizes and it don’t change for nothing. It is fixed there. permanently.

    In your theme options > typography settings you have set the h3 heading to be the green color. That text on your home page is an h3 tag.

    You can either change the settings in your theme options.

    Or you can add this css:

    h3.widget-title {
        color: black;
    }

    I decided to replace the site wide header banner on the unique site. I changed the image and saved it. I looked at site and it didn’t change it. Went back did it all again and made sure I saved it. Still no change. Then I went to another page and there is the site wide banner changed. Went back to the home page and it is the old picture. I tried all the pages and some have new photo and some have an old photo that I deleted. I made a small text change on a page to test and it did change the text so I am still connected to the site.
    Could things like this cause a person to be frustrated?
    Okay 10 minutes later now all pages show the right image. There must be some sort of delay here.

    Hey Thanks Ben did see your answers forgot to refresh page.
    But one thing is I found this stuff in the advance css box so i thought you should look at it first, before I post what you have.
    .page-header {
    display: none;
    }
    #nav-main ul.sf-menu>li {
    border-right: 2px dotted #eee;
    }

    #nav-main ul.sf-menu>li:last-child {
    border: none;
    }

    .post p {
    line-height: 2.5em;
    padding-bottom: 10px;
    color: black;
    }

    footer#containerfooter {
    padding-top: 0px;
    }
    .kad_tagline {
    color: white;
    text-shadow:
    -1px -1px 0 #000,
    1px -1px 0 #000,
    -1px 1px 0 #000,
    1px 1px 0 #000;
    }
    #content {
    width: 90%;
    }

    I remember a long time ago I had some help and we but an outline on the tag line. The rest I don’t know.

    Hey,
    The delay is because you have installed “WP-Super-Cache” plugin. Simply turn that off while you work and you will see instant changes.

    I don’t think you need to remove any of that css, it’s all little tweaks pretty normal stuff.

    Ben

    (@dougw200788)

    Okay the heading now works. I will have to study what you did there so I can learn something.

    What about the green text at the top of the page? I deactivated super cache and I have tried a bunch of stuff but it does not change. I think it has to do with them updating to a block style editor and mine says classic but has add block button on the top?

    That green text is the title for the first widget in your home page. You need to go to the home page edit screen and open page builder to edit that text.

    How do you add an image to some text. I have a blog post that I was going to add an image to and I thought that I could put the cursor in the spot of text where I want to put image and it would reasonably be there. Now no matter what I do the imagine goes all the way up to the top of the page, you can not move it. I thought it worked differently then that.
