Do i have to update WP regularly?

    Hi all, I’m about to purchase a plugin that is sold for £99 but to get its updates there is annual fees for £49.
    If i want to just get the plugin for the starter price (no updates in the future) i must not update my wordpresss version.
    Can my site run normal in the future if i disabled updates for WP?
