Intermittent Database Connection Errors – Help!!!

Hi,

Started the famous 5 minute install at 7.30 am this morning and its now 11.45am…

Everything seemed to go pretty well, got the login screen, entered the dashboard, went to add a user, added a user, went to add another user, then got the:

Error establishing a database connection

This either means that the username and password information in your wp-config.php file is incorrect or we can’t contact the database server at localhost. This could mean your host’s database server is down.

* Are you sure you have the correct username and password?
* Are you sure that you have typed the correct hostname?
* Are you sure that the database server is running?

If you’re unsure what these terms mean you should probably contact your host. If you still need help you can always visit the WordPress Support Forums.

Error! I can go back to the previous page OK, but not anywhere else? This is driving me nuts! I have tried creating a new database too, but that just doesn’t work.

Really would like to host wordpress if we can!

We are running our own dedicated server
php v 5.2.8
mysql v 5.0.77

Help much appreciated…
