• I want to be able to send my client a link to the preview of a blog post so that they can check the blog and suggest edits before it goes live.

Crucially, I do not want the rest of WP navigation/plugins visible to them. It needs to be as easy as possible (with distractions) so that this process, in our workflow, is as trouble-free as possible.

I have installed the free version of User Role Editor, and my question is, will the Pro version allow what I am looking to achieve? Or is there another plugin that would be better suited?

    Thanks

If you write about WP built-in preview link for the post in a ‘draft’ state, like this example-blog.com/?p=1764&preview=true, only user who can edit this post, can see it’s preview.

You may grant to a client a contributor role, create new post from you client user as the author. User with contributor role see not too much at WordPress. He can edit his posts in a ‘Draft’ state and move them to the ‘Pending Review’ state for moderation.

User Role Editor Pro may help with hiding from client the posts from other authors, right side admin menu items which may still available to the contributor role, like “Tools” and others, protected by the same ‘edit_posts’ capabilities.

If you wish to leave for your client less UI, look at the plugins like Adminimize or White Label CMS or similar (I do not remember exact name).
