My Categories Disappeared!

    I don’t know what happened, but shortly after i installed atahualpa and went back to the default theme, my categories on the side disappeared from the default theme! Please help! I’m willing to re-install the default theme as well. I was trying to do this hierarchy thing, and I guess it backfired. I just want to go back to the way things were.

    Looks like you modified the default Theme as well. If you do not know what changes you did, you probably do need to go back to the original copies of the themes.
    As a rule I always recommended putting the themes you want to edit in a new directory. That way you always have the working original. Just rename it in the top of the style.css to avoid confusion.

    Thanks! But how do I reinstall the default theme? Also, the categories have disappeared on other themes as well. Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions.

    If you want to just reinstall the same theme, then just delete that specific Theme directory and copy a new one in.
    As for your category issue, do you see the categories in Admin?
    Try reinstalling the theme and see if they come back. Otherwise did you change any files outside of the theme?

    The categories are not visible in several themes, where they were before. I didn’t change anything outside the default theme, so I don’t understand why the categories disappeared. And I don’t think I can re0instal the default theme. Any other suggestions? Is there an option somewhere to show categories? Or hide them? maybe this code got changed somehow? Or perhaps I did change an option somewhere?

    why not – it is in the wordpress zip? just get it and upload it

    also, were your categories in sidebar widgets? take a look
    admin – appearance – widgets

    did you try resetting your permalinks?
    admin – settings – permalinks

    Thanks a mil. I deleted and re-added the categories in the sidebar widgets and that fixed the problem. Thank you… really appreciate the help and your time!
