wp_admin install trouble

    I’m installing my first wordpress and am having trouble with the wp_admin install. I’ve followed the instructions and then run the wp_admin for the subdirectory and it comes up with a message that says

    We were able to connect to the database server (which means your username and password is okay) but not able to select the db_name database.

    any help would be amazing!
