Maybe I’m blind as a bat but I can’t seem to find a working example nor any screenshots of this thing in action. The only screenshots I’ve seen are of the admin panel but where does the plugin appear on the front-end?

It appears by default on single post display pages. You can see lots of examples of this plugin in action:

I hope that helps. Perhaps in the future I’ll add some more screenshots to the docs.
