French language not used for Readability Analysis

    Hello !

    On my blog (bloculus.com), I use yoast seo. And since a few weeks, the Readability Analysis keep displaying average grade because it thinks my website is in english whereas it is (and has always been) set to french in the corresponding wordpress setting page.

    Do you know why it keep thinking my website language is english ?

    Can you confirm you are using WordPress 4.9.8 and Yoast SEO for WordPress 9.0.3? If you go to your admin dashboard > Settings > General, could you confirm that the Site Language is French and then save the changes. Does this then resolve the issue?

    Hello Michael,

    Yes for all of your questions. Everything is set so that Yoast should consider the website content as “french”.

    But I think I found the guilty plugin for that : I use “English WordPress Admin” to display wordpress label in english instead of french. I assume it mess up with the global settings because when I switch it off, Yoast does its job correctly…

    So, I assume I have to choose between correct readability indicator and english interface… 🙂

    Recent WordPress versions offer the ability for each user to see the admin in a different language than the site default.

    Admin dashboard > Settings > General > Set site language (French)
    Admin dashboard > Users > Your Profile > Set user language (English)

    Yoast SEO uses the site language to analyze content but you’ll still have the ability to see the admin menus in English.
