I’ve noticed ever since I started testing this editor, I can move blocks with the arrows, but I cannot drag blocks. When I try to drag them, they move, but they bounce back into their original position.

I am testing this locally on XAMPP and tried this with Chrome, Firefox, and Edge (all latest versions).

Am I the only one that cannot drag blocks?

  • I cannot drag and drop either. I get the had icon when I grab it, but I get no blue line and it does not move.

    Hi,

So it seems drag and drop is a bit flakey right now (https://github.com/WordPress/gutenberg/issues/8540 is the revelant issue).

To drag and drop, you hover over a block, it has two arrows and a “dotted” middle area.
The dotted area is where you hold to drag a block. After this you need to move your cursor into the content, and once you see a thin blue line, you can release it to place it where the bluer line was.

This is unfortunately a bit quirky at the moment, I agree, hopefully the mentioned ticket gets some traction soon.

As there is an associated ticket, I’m marking this thread as resolved, and encourage further discussions to happen on the ticket if possible.
