Most recent update crashed my site

    Updated Stripe Payments plugin. Now my site only loads:
    Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘, expecting ‘)’ in /home/cheesy5/public_html/wp-content/plugins/stripe-payments/admin/includes/class-coupons.php on line 295
    front end, and back end same message.

    I want to keep the plugin if I can. But I NEED to restore the site. If I went in via ftp and removed the plugin in the plugin folder would that get my site back?

    Hi.

    Yep, removeing the plugin folder would get your site back. After you remove it, you can install this version which fixes the issue https://s-plugins.com/testing/stripe-payments_1.9.9t2.zip

    Also, consider upgrading PHP on your server. PHP 5.3, which you’re using, is old and no longer supported by the authors. This would ensure similar things won’t happen to your site in the future (and those could be caused not only by our plugin BTW).

    Hey, thanks for the prompt response, Alexander C. I really, really appreciate it. Yes, I got my site back. Now I’m going to try loading the plugin as you described. I’ll report back after I do.

    Okay, sweet. The plugin uploaded just fine. I was afraid I would need to recreate all of my products, but they were there. (Must have been stored in a different folder.) Anyway, it all looks good, as far as I can tell.

    Just a postscript: I did update my PHP to 7.0 and then updated to the most recent version of this plugin, and everything worked just fine. Thanks for letting me know!

    I also thought of letting you know that PHP 7.2.x is much faster and better than 7.0 or 7.1.

    Many thanks, @mbrsolution … I had been told that 7.0 was much more stable. Not sure if that’s true; just what I was told.

    Hi, yes that might be correct for PHP 7.0.32, which means there has been 32 versions released up to date.

    Currently for PHP 7.2, there has been 11 releases up to date. So the current version is 7.2.11. However the improvements in speed and functionality is much better than 7.0. Also, 7.0 will not be receiving any more security support after December this year 🙂 You can read more about it from the following URL Supported PHP versions.

    I just thought of sharing this information with you so you are aware about the future of PHP.
