    Hi,
When the Like button at the end of the blog posts is clicked, it shows a checkmark, but nothing happens on Facebook. There is no indication that my blog was liked by the user.

I have had people tell me that they clicked like after reading one of my blog posts, but nothing has happened on Facebook.

    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks for reaching out.

That’s how liking works. When someone clicks the like button on Facebook, he informs the content creator that his info is appreciated. So the interaction is between two people. It does very little other than that. Maybe Facebook will inform a few friends who liked a similar topic but that’s it.

Much more powerful is the share button: When you click a share button you not only indicate that you like the content to the creator but the article is also put in front of all the friends on Fb.

Thanks for your reply. I guess I’m confused about what the like button at the end of my posts is supposed to be used for.

I understand that when someone clicks the like button on Facebook directly, it’s between the content creator and that person. But what I’m having trouble with is when someone clicks the like button on my blog site nothing happens.

On the backend of the plugin, under “What do you want the icons to do?”, I have “Like my blog on Facebook (+1)” selected. So I thought the point of having the facebook like button on my site was so users could like my blog/page directly from my website.

But I had someone click like on my website and nothing happened on facebook or my site. The only reason that I knew she clicked like is because she told me. There was no interaction between the user and the creator of the content (me).

If it’s just supposed to be counter on my website, then anyone could just click like over and over again, giving false numbers that aren’t actually connected to a social media account at all, right? Is this all these buttons are for?

Like I said before, I have the counter disabled, so I’m wondering if there’s any point at all to my having the button on my site. It’s doing nothing for my facebook likes and I’m not notified in any way that someone clicked like, let alone being able to tell who that person is.

If you can help me understand the point of having the “Like” button at the end of my blog posts that would be fantastic! Hope I’m making sense :).

No, users cannot just click on the Like button over and over. They need a Facebook account. You can try it.

You can show the counts if you want to have it an effect. You can also check how often your pages got shared or liked here http://www.sharedcount.com

It is as I said above. If you think that’s not good value, maybe you just show the Facebook share button?

Thanks for helping me to understand all this. And thanks for that link to sharedcount. I think I’ve got it now! I appreciate your time.
