CSS Hover Color Help!

Hello, i want main navigation menu’s to be different color each on hover (when you put mouse on and when clicked). I’ve added this: “.food-nav a:hover { background: ffffff; }” (.food-nav is my unique menu for food defined), on the style.css at the bottom but it didn’t worked maybe because it’s alredy defined up in the script, i’m giving you .main navigation css code to help me solve this: https://pastebin.com/EXjVFVJE
