• Hi all. And thanks for your help ahead of time.
I’m trying to test out uploading a pic.
Under Options, Misc, I changed the destination directory to what WP suggested. I also changed the URI of the directory to what WP suggested.
When I went to Upload to test it out, I got this error message:
It doesn’t look like you can use the file upload feature at this time because the directory you have specified (/home/essfin00/domains/essfingers.com/public_html/wordpress/wp-content) doesn’t appear to be writable by WordPress. Check the permissions on the directory and for typos.
    What have I done wrong?

  • Nothing 🙂
You need to make the folder specified in that error writable by the server.
Permissions of 755 or 766 or 777 will be needed.
This is done through your cpanel, or your ftp client.
    Some ftp guides are here:

Podz, permissions are set on that folder to 755.
I don’t have any problem uploading via FileZilla or DirectAdmin. I only have problems using the Upload feature within WordPress itself.
Is there something else within WP that I need to check?

TRy tyhe other two CHMOD “combinations” – 766 and/or 777.

    Yay! 777 worked.
    Thanks podz and moshu! 🙂
    Now onto other battles….
