• Hi

We were mid-way through a new site build with a developer who went bust. They created a wordpress site on their developers site: http://yarisracing.jamrockbespoke.co.uk/wp-admin

I was able to access this and work on the back end of the site before making it live in due course. We lost access to their servers so I have set up a new domain and hosting package which is live.

I have transferred in the site files and database however there was no WP-Includes folder so it wouldnt load. We have another site: http://www.yarisequestrian.co.uk where exactly the same happened and I have transferred and am using successfully so I copied the WP-Includes folder from that site and I can now at least access the wp-admin of Yarisracing.co.uk.

Unfortunately though all the content is lost. There is no theme and I have bought the same theme but it wont upload.

I’d really like some help if possible?

    Thank you!

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Did you copy wp-content/plugins, wp-content/themes and wp-content/uploads?

Hi Steven, thanks for the reply.

No, I was just told by my new web-host that WP-Includes was missing so that’s the only folder I copied.

I should have added that when I added the folder 1 file failed to upload which related to the password – i’m guessing that’s because I copied it from my other site which has a different password!

How did you transfer the site? Let’s get back to square one.

My new web-host (123Reg) have given me access to Filezilla into which I have uploaded two folders: Site Files and Database.

123Reg say it isnt anything to do with their hosting and I need to consult a developer.

I will do this but I think it may be quite simple for someone who knows!

Apologies, I’ve just read your resume – I can see you are a highly experienced developer!

Thanks for your assistance with this.

So what’s the solution, you can share with us if there is solution, so those who have the same experience can use yours, me too if I experience the same in the future.

    1. Deactivate cache on the old site (because you don’t need those files).
    2. Download all files via Filezilla.
    3. Export your database via PHPMYADMIN on the old site.
    4. Create a new database on the new site and assign a user to it.
    5. Import your database via PHPMYADMIN on the new site.
    6. Edit wp-config.php because the database stuff probably changed.
    7. Upload all files to the new site via FILEZILLA.

If the domain did not change, you’re done.

    If not,

    8. download https://interconnectit.com/products/search-and-replace-for-wordpress-databases/ and upload the files to your new site via FILEZILLA.
    9. Using that script. search for the old domain and replace with the new one.

I’m really grateful for your time here, thank you.

I do feel though that the best thing is to simply start again. The old site wasn’t live, I have all the media and knowledge to rebuild from scratch now so would be cleaner. I have control of the domain so no chance of it going down again!

Is there a way to close the existing wp-admin account so I can start a new one?

The wp-admin account belongs to that websie. If you take it down, the account goes with it.t

I don’t want to take the website down (it’s never been ‘up’), I just want a new wp-admin account and start again.

I’m sorry if I’ve confused things. The website I am having issue with is http://www.yarisracing.co.uk which has never been live – it has only existed on the developers site.

Our other site http://www.yarisequestrian.co.uk is totally separate and working fine.

I think you’re confusing “wp-admin account” with your hosting account unless all you want to do is trash varisracign.co.uk and start again. If so, delete the files, drop the database, and you have a clean slate.

Yes I think that will be the easiest route.

Thanks so much for all your help.
