    In the features of this plugin it says “Ability to configure an email that will get sent to your buyers after they purchase your product.”

    I took that to mean I could create my own email.

    However, in the digital download tutorial it says this is what your email will look like and just shows an email with a quick message and the download link.

    No where in the documentation do I see help on how to create your own email. I would like to add content to the email, so it contains their download link(s) plus a message I create. Is this not possible? If it’s not, then what did it mean when it said you could configure an email? If it is possible, how do I do it?

    Hi,

    “Ability to configure an email that will get sent to your buyers after they purchase your product.”

    This means that you can edit the following settings Simple Cart -> Settings -> Email Settings. Is this what you want to edit?

    Regards

    Thank you. I wasn’t seeing those settings. Do I just use a href tags for hyperlinks I want to add to the email?

    Will the email read the html code and apply it or just show the html code as text?

    Hi, I don’t think html tags are permitted at the present in the e-mail body. However, you can carry out a test to see if html tags are allowed. If you do decide to test this, make sure it is a full path i.e. http://. If the e-mail arrives without the html link then you know it is not currently supported.

    Ok. I can’t test the email, however, because I can’t even checkout. I posted another forum question to help me checkout since it is a new question.

    Thanks for your speedy replies. Almost there! I just have to get my checkout button to work and my email configured.

    Alright I fixed the other problem. I was able to check out, and I went through with the purchase since I set it to $0.01. However, I am not even receiving the email with my download links. I have checked my spam folder.

    I purchased the product 25 minutes ago from a different email account then I am using to sell, and I still have yet to receive an email with the links.

    I did receive the receipt from PayPal. I also received the message to the seller. But the buyer is not getting an email with the downloads.

    Why is the email not sending? Or does it take longer than 25 minutes?

    The checkout process doesn’t ask for the buyer’s first or last name or their email address, but I assuming it is just taking their data from PayPal. (I used my personal paypal account to test out buying these products.)

    Or maybe the message isn’t sending because it doesn’t know what email to send it to.

    Your documentation says nothing about emails. There isn’t a single tutorial or link on getting help with the emails, so I just suggest you add that in the future.

    I have tried four times. I have bought the download from myself, but I am not getting an email.

    Hi, some servers only allow emails with SMTP configuration. You can get a WordPress plugin to configure SMTP for your WordPress install. You can use the following SMTP plugin:

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-wp-smtp/

    Let me know if this helps you.

    Kind regards

    I ordered a 1 cent product four times last night, trying to get the email.

    2.5 hours later, I got the email for the first order. 3 hours later, I got the email for the second order.

    I never received an email for the 3rd or 4th order.

    Today, I decided to test it again. This time with the links to see if those would work. I ordered my product three hours ago, and I still haven’t gotten an email.

    I really want to use your Plugin when I start selling them for a price. I have already set it all up. But it won’t work if users don’t get the email for a very long time or worse don’t get it at all.

    The fact that I am getting it just incredibly late does that mean I should set up my SMTP configuration, and it will make it go faster. Or does that have nothing to do with it.

    Do all the product emails from your plugin take this long?

    Hi,

    Do all the product emails from your plugin take this long?

    I would speak to your host about this issue. See if they can find out why it is taking so long. In my case it is very fast. So my guess is, the issue is probably related to your server. I could be wrong though.

    It might have something to do with a session problem, check the following URL. See if this also helps you.

    If the above does not help, you might want to contact PayPal support, see if they can share some light for you.

    Kind regards

    Thanks. I will talk with my host and see what I can figure out.

    I tested it again today with my husband’s account. He got the email two hours after I ordered it for him, but the email said here is what you ordered without the link to the product.

    So that is a huge problem. My customized links that I added were there (the a href tag doesn’t work, but I can just type out URLS, and they are hyperlinks), but their was no link for him to download his purchase.

    The emails I got had the link to download the product.

    Is anyone else having such a hard time getting the emails to work?

    Hi, in regards to the link not being sent. Remember what I mentioned above.

    Hi, I don’t think html tags are permitted at the present in the e-mail body. However, you can carry out a test to see if html tags are allowed. If you do decide to test this, make sure it is a full path i.e. http://. If the e-mail arrives without the html link then you know it is not currently supported.

    No, that’s not the link I am referring to. I am referring to the actual product link. The link to download the digital file.

    The delay might be my host/server. But the fact that the link to the product is missing wouldn’t have anything to do with my server; I wouldn’t think.

    Anything I can try troubleshooting within the plugin to figure out why I got the link to the product, but then once I customized the email, the product no longer had a link for download?

    This is the add to card button, so it has the file Url: [wp_cart_button name=”Business Finance Tracker” price=”0.01″ file_url=”http://example.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/ebook1.pdf”%5D

    This is the email in the email settings:

    Dear {first_name} {last_name}

    Thank you for your purchase! You ordered the following item(s):

    {product_details}

    Do you want to give back? You can do so in one of four ways:

    *(I put in the link with an a href tag here)Donate a small sum for my time and efforts. (/a)

    *Leave a review and/or report a bug: http://beaconpointservices.org/editing/

    *Find a new editor to mentor. Allow them to ask you any questions within a certain time frame, and if you can, help them find their first client.

    *Offer your talents to the EAE and CE-L community if you aren’t already doing so. Think of ways you can uniquely help and give back.

    Then the email my husband got:

    Dear Gary Chambers

    Thank you for your purchase! You ordered the following item(s):

    Business Finance Tracker x 1 – $0.01

    Do you want to give back? You can do so in one of four ways:

    *(it actually said a href, so the html tag didn’t work) Donate a small sum for my time and efforts.

    Notice: There is no link to download the Business Finance Tracker. I see that my tags were not supported since it didn’t hyperlink the text and actually included the a href tag. I knew this wouldn’t work; I was just testing it. But why did my husband not get the product link?

    Hi, yes I now understand what you mean. Sorry for my last reply above. Lets try something different just for testing purposes. Can you edit the Body of the e-amil and only add the following.

    Dear {first_name} {last_name}

    Thank you for your purchase! You ordered the following item(s):

    {product_details}

    Then carry out a test. Let me know what your husband receives.

    Thank you

    I did already test that. I sent the email without any customization, and yes, I did get the product link. That was the first test I did.

    I got the email 3 hours later with the link. Then I tested again for speed. It still took 3 hours, but I got the link.

    I then decided to test out the customization. SO I customized the email and had my husband order. He did not get the product link.

    So does this mean the product link won’t work if I customize the email?

    Plugin Contributor mbrsolution

    (@mbrsolution)

    Hi, yes it looks that way. I think it is best to leave the email body as it is without adding any text afterwards.

    I have submitted a message to the developers to investigate further this issue.

    Thank you

    Customizing that email is totally fine. The way it works is that you customize the email then insert the email merge tag where you want the product details and link to appear. So for example: the following merge tag will show the product details and the download links wherever you put it in your customized email:

    {product_details}

    I just tested this myself by customizing the email from the “Email Settings” menu. The product download link shows up fine. I also know that many of our users customize that email and it is working fine for them.

    Are you 100% sure that you are checking out using an add to cart button that has a “file_url” parameter in the shortcode with a correct file URL value? Just asking this because there is a chance that you have put multiple shortcodes on a page and one of them is missing that “file_url” parameter and maybe you did the test with that product.

    What happens if you make a small customization first then test (instead of a big one in one go)? Just to see if there is something in the customized text that is throwing something off.
