Menus borked since update
-
Hi! Since the latest Agama update, my menus are a mess. I can’t get one of them to go away and it displays all published pages, even if I’m not using them. I’ve gone through and made most of those pages private but it still looks really bad.
When I adjust the menus to Top only appearance (what I’ve had all year), it looks right in the Customizer but as soon as I load the page, there is a huge mess of menu.
Any assistance would be wildly, gladly, and madly appreciated!

Hello @skase98!
If you do not want your primary menu to be displayed, go to Customize-> Menus-> Your primary menu name … and uncheck the “Primary Menu” checkbox.
https://prnt.sc/kqc2cxnext,
Try to clear your browser’s cache.
I do not know what the Top Menu looked like before, but it looks good to me.
https://prnt.sc/kqc35sIf you still have problems after that, there may exist some conflict with your activated plugins. To check this, try temporarily deactivating ALL plugins and check your menus again. If the problem is gone, activate the plugins one by one until the problem occurs again. This way you can find out which plugin is the problem(if any).

Thank you for the suggestions. I have tried unchecking all the menu options in the customizer – as in NO menu should appear anywhere but I still get the two very badly formatted menus with items in them that aren’t supposed to appear (like the checkout page) as a menu item. It’s like the theme is totally ignoring its own settings as far as the menus go.
I did not install any new plugins and this only happened after the last Agama update which is why I thought it was a theme issue. This is an event site and the event starts on Thursday so this is terrible timing to have things go wrong!
I appreciate your comments and suggestions – thank you so much!
Hello @skase98!
I checked your website and found that you have some problem with the styling too.
Please try to deactivate ALL plugins you have activated to make sure there is no conflict, after that, If the problem is resolved, activate the plugins one by one until the problem arises again. In this way, you can detect which plugin is problematic.
Also turn off the Nicescroll, located in Customizing-> General-> Extra menu, then check your website again.

Once, when you fix the styling, I will help you with the menu.Regards
The update of the theme completely broke the site (omg!!!!) Version : 1.0.9=>1.1.0
how can i come back to the previous version?Hi @nicogogogo!
Probably this has happened because of conflicts with some of the activated plugins you have. See the next video, it may help you to solve the problem that you have:

thanks for swift answer… Sorry fo rmy question, I am new adopter of wp… I have deactivated the only active plugin I had and this is kind of the same site with messy css.
I cant believe i am the only one who suffers from this :/thanks for the interesting video 😉
I see you have using Autoptimize plugin which could easily cause the issue you have described.
So try disabling Autoptimize plugin and see if that’s help.
Regards
pro-tip; you can disable Autoptimize on a per-request basis by adding
?ao_noptimize=1to the URL.if the problem is not there at that point, some autoptimize (re-)configuration might be needed to fix this. there are troubleshooting tips and info on how to exclude in the AO FAQ.
hope this helps debugging,
frank (ao dev)Thanks man on great tip 😉
The Autoptimize plugin is not the cause of your issue.
If you completely removed menus than could be that WordPress itself is assigning default menu to your unassigned menus so what you could do is next:
- Go to: Appearance -> Customize -> Header -> General -> Top Navigation
- Set Top Navigation to Off
That should disable 100% your top navigation from all pages.
Best Regards
Hi Jerry, seems that playing with the top navigation option does not help much unfortunately. It is like there is somewhere an ‘align left’ overridding the site’s rules
i have tried the mastr tip
http://buggyritter.be/?ao_noptimize=1
does not help neither, i will try tomorrow to switch to another theme and see what it does, thanks for advises guys ‘top!’On the clean WP theme work normally without bug you have stating on this thread so i must assume there is something which is causing this happen.
You can try disable it by hard CSS coding via:
Appearance -> Customize -> General -> Additional CSSadd next CSS code there:
#vision-top-nav { display: none; }And that will do think.
Regards
Sorry, y’all – all these posts got caught in spam and I just found them. With my site (yep – I have Autoptimize, too), I had to turn on BOTH menus to get things to stop looking horrible but I only want one menu so it’s not a solution for sure. If I leave either one off, the turned off menu spews out a list of every available page even if it’s a background page for woocommerce or something else that is hidden (like a thank-you page for donations that only shows up after a donation).
I’ll look at AO options but dang this is annoying!
