user extra data

I was attempting to use um_registration_set_extra_data, but when I add that hook to the process, on submit all seems to go well EXCEPT the registration form is redisplayed instead of the user profile like it was prior to me adding that hook.

The user is added with the extra data. It just is odd that the registration form is redisplayed.

Any ideas what would cause that?
