• This editor will kill the experience of seamless development for the developer who loves editing using the text editor. It will be difficult to disable auto-formatting. This will only target newbies. Good for only inexperienced people.

    Useful for:
Who don’t know much about editing content using HTML and CSS and who loves to design everything using themes and plugins, but unfortunately, they will also not be satisfied with this editor as there are a lot of better paid and free alternative content editors available.

    No use for:
The developer who use WordPress and loves to customize the way they want

  • Hi @devgk, why is it difficult to disable autoformatting for a developer? And also .. you still can write your text in a simple texteditor like TextEdit and place it using the Classic Editor.

Thanks for the reply, I understand that we can disable auto-formatting. But we have already written some logic and code to disable visual editors and autoformatting. Because of this update, those logics has to be re-written.

I am not sure how good this editor will be or what good it will bring to the existing WordPress. But I am sure that, a lot of people like me and other developers, who actually suggests and motivates other to use WordPress and join WordPress, will definitely gonna be disappointed.

I would like to suggest. Give an option to the users to switch back to the old editor and disable Gutenberg completely. You can put this option in “Reading Settings”. For us again it won’t gonna be a big problem. But I just don’t want the WordPress application to be disappointing for anyone.
