Hi,
I have now excluded https://checkeredhouse.com/sitemaps.xml from my CDN, but the same issue is still occuring.
@li-an : try to exclude XML sitemaps from Comet Cache.
It does not work. It works on a test site on the same hosting but not on my main site with plugins desactivated and default theme (I tried with a simplified htaccess).
Weth Waterfox, I have this error message

Using the latest version and no CDN.
And where is the setting to remove the faulty added / to sitemaps.xml/?
You probably have a cache plugin not compatible. You have to prevent to cache the sitemaps (it worked for me with Fastest Cache).
We don’t use a cache plugin.
Only minifiying script (for js and css files).
