I use the hummingbird plugin along with cloudflare, which is linked to it. I enabled the “asset optimization” feature recently but had no problems. I recently made changes to the site and created new js/css files that have a new hash on the filename. I cleared the cache on hummingbird, which should clear the page, browser, and cloudflare cache. Then somethign seem to broke. My homepage just didn’t load. I disabled the “asset optimization”, cleared cach everywhere. Still had the same problem of the homepage trying to fetch and older js/css file.

Next step I took, I went into cloudflare and set it to “development mode” which should force my wordpress site to point to the js/css directly to where the site is being hosted (siteground). Still had problems.

Kept clearing cache everywher and nothing worked on the homepage. Every other page was working fine. I fixed the problem, but I basically had to duplicate my homepage, and assign wordpress a new static page (which was a duplicate of the homepage).

Would you know what caused the homepage to refer to an old js/css file? Is it because of the “Asset Optimization” feature? How can I avoid that problem?

  • Hi @popinjosh,

It’s quite hard for us to debug this issue without being able to see it for ourselves. It could have been caused by caching settings in Siteground. If it happens again please don’t hesitate to create a support ticket again and we can try and figure out what’s happening 🙂

    Cheers,
    Calum
