Sidebar Misalignment Problem – Pages for Archives and Recent Posts

Hi All
I am new to WordPress and have been trying to develop my own theme for a couple weeks now. This is the problem I have encountered on two attempts:

The sidebar on the following two pages do not line up.

I have tried changing the css, and also the div containers that the php code for the sidebar is located in.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
