Need help formatting web page

Hi!

Unfortunately the website I’m working on is not live, so I do not have a link to post.

I’m very new to this, but I’ve been searching for an answer all day yesterday and all day today and have had no luck. On the website pages previously created by someone no longer with the company, there is a black box behind the text that runs all the way across the screen (not just the text box) but when I make a new page, the black box is not there and it is the background of the website. I’ve tried comparing the web pages as well so I could hopefully spot the difference but I can’t seem to get anything.
