    Hi,

Could you tell me how I would get Kale to automatically update the latest blog post from my website onto the homepage?

I would also like to be able to present the blog articles on the Blog page (https://www.barlinnievisitorscentre.org/blog/) in a more appealing way to the block of text that it is at the moment.

    Thank you 🙂

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi, croftbarlinnie.

Thank you for contacting us and for using our theme. We appreciate it.

Right now, you have a static page set as your homepage and another page for your Blog page.
If you’d like to have your blog posts showing up on the homepage, then you can’t have them on a separate page. this is a bit of “catch 22”. 🙂 So you’ll have to decide which way you want to go.
If you’d like them on your homepage, simply go to Settings -> Reading and switch the radio button from “A static page” to “Your latest posts”.

Regarding the appearance of a post on that page, you need to add the featured image to that post, and it will show as a thumbnail. More about that here – http://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-add-featured-image-or-post-thumbnails-in-wordpress/

Hope this helps, but if you have any additional questions, feel free to ask.

    Kind regards.

    Hi,

Thanks for getting back to me.

Unfortunately when I do that it then ruins the layout for my homepage. Do you know how I would add a welcome paragraph and Call to Action before the Blog once I’ve completed the above instructions?

    Thanks.

    Hi there,

Unfortunately the only way to add custom text before blog feed on non static front page is by theme file modification. Please open wp-content/themes/kale/index.php file and add your text before this line:

    <div class="blog-feed">

    Kind regards

    Superb, thanks very much.

Just to mention, if you make such changes in the theme, don’t forget to do it using a child theme – https://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes otherwise all your modifications would get overwritten when you update the theme.

    Kind regards.
