Digital downloads

I have asked a few times about digital downloads not being able to be downloaded. The solution has always been to go into the product settings and reselect the option.

It seems that almost every time the plugin is updated it defaults to being unchecked and I get bombarded with emails about “why is your download wanting me to pay shipping”. This is really annoying!

Is there something that can be coded to stop this from happening?
