Multiple content within one page?

I have a wordpress page which i could do with having control over multiple areas within i.e like a cms.

I have done alittle research but nothing which explains how just stuff about the wp loop which i dont really understand 🙁

A nice little site i know is controlled by wordpress as a cms.

The content to the right has 2 columns each with different post id’s.

How is this done, also how would that work in the admin, 2 pages in the admin published in one?

Are there any plugins or tutorials which could guide me in the right direction?
