How do you count links? Obviously you’re ignoring menu and footer links

But your # links in post is showing 1 for a post, and there are 2 in the post body text.

In another you say 18, and there’s none.

    Newly installed, and newly counted

  • The plugin will only recognize links contained in the standard editor area. If you placed the links in your menubar, sidebar or footer, the plugin may not be able to recognize them.

THat’s great. How it should be.
in the standard editor area is the errors I said

    # links in post is showing 1 for a post, and there are 2 in the post body text.

In another you say 18, and there’s none.

    # internal links to you’re showing 153 for the first 5 posts. I don’t even have 153 posts/pages even if every one was linking there.

Another one shows 0, but has 2 links.

Does it matter link is /page or http:/……/page?

Just for reference, I edited that post with 0 out 153 in. I changed the 1 link in the standard editor area
Now its stats are 19, 135.

When going to SEO → Tools, do you see a green checkmark for Text Link Counter? If you see a button instead, please click it and wait for the plugin to finish analyzing your content for internal links. Does this fix your issue?

Additionally, please make sure that your internal links contain the full path URLs. Yoast SEO wouldn’t be able to recognize relative URLs.

    Text link counter
Good job! All the links in your texts have been counted.

    it’s wrong either way.
I don’t have 153 full or relative URLs in body text.

Does insert-pages plugin stuff things up?

Also I believe relative URLs are recommended for use on sites

The incorrect link count may be caused by a plugin or theme conflict. Can you try and gather as much information for us as possible? Please perform the following:

    1. Make sure the issue doesn’t persist when Yoast SEO is disabled.
    2. Check for conflicts.
    3. Check for JavaScript errors with your console.
If you find any JavaScript errors related to Yoast SEO or if there is a conflict with a plugin or a theme, you can create a new GitHub issue for our developers. Please report the issue to a third party developer as well.

If you didn’t find any conflicts or errors, we think the issue is specific to your site. We’d need to investigate further but are unable to do so on these forums. You can purchase Yoast SEO Premium and receive our Premium email support and we can help you further.
