This is more of a question than an issue.

I can’t tell that there’s a difference between successive saves of my post content when it comes to the Amazon Polly conversion process. It seems to me that the plugin might be running the text-to-speech conversion process every time that I update a given post.

So, I just wanted to make sure that the only time that the text-to-speech conversion process was taking place was when it was necessary to do so. Meaning, the content has actually changed.

I know that $4 per million characters isn’t a lot to pay for the conversion process, but it’s still potentially money that we shouldn’t have to pay if nothing about the resultant audio file has changed when the save action is completed.

    Thanks.

    Hi @writerdan,
You are right, conversion will be done every time when you update your post. We expected, that if you update the content, you are changing something, so you would like that audio would be generated again. But I also see your point here, that sometimes you might not want to do it. I will leave this topic open for now, and I will get back to it in future, when we will add possibility of changing this behaviour.

You know, I’ve rethought this, and I think it’s probably more hassle than it’s worth. The nuances of when you might not want to redo the audio when you do need to update the post probably won’t make that much of a difference.

I’ll close this out. If someone else brings it up, you can take a look at it then.
