    Hi guys,

I’m setting up a simple shop, offering only downloadable products. I’ll be using only PayPal for payments and I have setup PayPal Express plugin and sandbox and have been trying all day to resolve the issue. I hope you can help.
So, there are two scenarios to play out:

    Scenario 1:
    1. You go to the product page and:
    (a) add the product to the cart and use PayPal Express button to pay – this is working fine.
    (b) add the product to the cart and click View Cart, preview the info and again, use the PayPal Express button to pay – this is also working fine.
Using this payment flow would be ideal.

    Scenario B: Here’s the problem…
    1. You add product to cart.
    2. From the top right drop down icon, you click on Checkout.
    3. You’re now on the Checkout page that I would like to remove completely.
Here, the button Proceed to checkout is not working at all. I simply can’t get it to work. Really not into coding. I would like to not direct clients here, because it’s very confusing, even though I have added the PayPal Express button on top.

So, in Woocommerce > Settings > Checkout — for Checkout Page, I used either Cart or the default Shop page. This removed the access to the Checkout page completely, but created an entirely new problem. Namely:

When the user pays via PayPal Express, he’s redirected to either the Shop or Cart pages and has no way to download the zip archive with the product. While, if I leave the Checkout Page set to “Checkout”, after the purchase, the user is able to download the product. It turns out the download section is tied in with the Checkout page. Is there a way to separate them or to set it up to work with Scenario 1 and the clients to still be redirected to a (custom) page to download the files? I’m open to ideas and suggestions. I’m using the latest version of all plugins and themes. I’m running the Uncode theme as well.

    Best,
    Kamen

WooCommerce does need that checkout page to work correctly, so I’d look in that direction. Instead of disabling the checkout page, it’s better to make sure that the checkout flow doesn’t send you to the checkout page.

You can remove the “proceed to checkout” link on the checkout page:
    https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/paypal-express-checkout/#section-10

You can also modify your theme to not show the checkout button at all, though that’ll be down to your individual theme.
