If you a higher return by working with a third party and you are also happy with the cooperation in general then I am wondering why you would want Auto ads or manage your own placements.

I tested a lot on our own sites and even when knowing the best setup, I kept others enabled in order to compare and see, if my “best setup” starts to decline. If you want that then Advanced Ads is definitely the tool to do this. You could even build rotating setups like serve 80% of your traffic to the third party, 10% with Auto ads and 10% with a manual setup. I would not suggest mixing Auto ads, third-party ads and your own managed ads on the same pages, though or you could easily end up with too many ads.

The setup described above needs some more work. It is in principle I wrote about in this tutorial. Let me know if you want something like this and I might be able to provide more information.
