I switched my theme to Elara and although I added Kirki as soon as it popped up as recommended I have never been able to get to the special customizer menu. E.g. under Appearance > Customize…”General Settings” has never been available.

Tried deactivating and activating the kirki plugin and even logging out and going to a different computer to see if it was a cache issue.

Please let me know how what steps I can take to fix this issue. I can’t even add a Copyright at this point.

    Thank You.

  • Hi @allnaturalsdirect.

Thank you for contacting us and for using Elara. We appreciate it.

Sorry for this issue, could you please install this plugin – https://wordpress.org/plugins/send-system-info/ and report back what’s PHP version in use on your server?

    Kind regards.

Thanks for getting back to me.

    The PHP version is 5.2.17

Also let me know if any active plugins could be causing a compatibility issue. I’ve already disabled jetpack:

    ACTIVE PLUGINS:

    Comprehensive Google Map Plugin: 7.0.31
    Contact Form 7: 4.6.1
    Disable Comments: 1.7.1
    Go Daddy Quick Setup: 1.04
    Growmap Anti Spambot Plugin: 1.5.6
    Kirki Toolkit: 3.0.25
    Really Simple CAPTCHA: 2.0.1
    Send System Info: 1.3
    Simple Social Buttons: 2.0.14
    Welcome to WordPress: 1.0
    Yoast SEO: 4.2.1

    Best,

    Nani

Thank you for getting back with that info, @allnaturalsdirect.

PHP 5.2.x is ancient history nowadays. Please contact your hosting support and ask them to upgrade PHP to version 5.6.x at least, if not 7.x.

As soon as they do that, you’ll have complete customizer.

    Kind regards.

    Thank you!

I contacted my hosting company and it turns out I’ve had the site so long that I’m on a legacy server!

I’m migrating my hosting now and I’ll give an update and close this case once I’m completed.

    Best,

    Nani

Update: I migrated my site to the new servers running PHP version 7.1 and the kirki plugin now works perfectly. However, I’ve decided to change to the Kale theme! So far so good.

    Thanks for you assistance @siniplyrathemes

    You’re welcome, @allnaturalsdirect.

Glad that PHP is now good to go. 🙂

And Elara or Kale, doesn’t matter, you’re still “in the family” so to say. 😉

Could I just ask you to mark this thread as “Resolved”?

If you have any additional questions in the future, just contact us in an appropriate forum.

Thank you for your time and have a nice day/evening.
