When the shop (product post type) archive is displayed on front, the breadcrumb function continues to generate a link for the home page and another for the shop archive, though they are one and the same. In such a situation (shop on front) the home page link is all that is needed. What’s more, the 2nd breadcrumb link points to https://www.example.com/shop/ instead of to https://www.example.com. The URL that includes ‘/shop/’, though an actual link is usually hidden and is in fact best redirected to the home page.

Unless I’m missing something, it seems the breadcrumb functions need some changes for proper output when the shop is set to the front of the site.
