Hamburger is Persistant

Hi, I have selected to show the close button when the menu is open- as you can see. But the hamburger still shows. I cannot figure out what is going on there. Can I not hide it on open?
The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Hi Doug,
The ShiftNav toggle I’m seeing on your site is a custom toggle you’ve created. The settings the Control Panel refer to the main toggle bar that ShiftNav adds (which I believe you have disabled). So if you’re creating a custom toggle, you would need to implement that functionality in your custom toggle yourself, since ShiftNav can’t control your custom code.
Hope that helps!
Yes, I know. Do you think I could do that by accident? I had to do it in order to get around the fact that shiftnav has this insane logic where it keeps the menu button on at all times instead of being replaced with the close button- like every other menu icon button.
I couldn’t wait any longer for a response.
And I find it funny that you marked this resolved, considering nothing is resolved and there is no way to change this behavior without rolling your own. You did nothing, but you mark is resolved. Cool.
Whoa Doug, let’s take a step back here.
This is a free plugin. I’m currently on vacation. I still got back to you in under 48 hours. Are you expecting real time support for a free resource and getting upset that I couldn’t get back to you sooner?
I assessed your question based on the state of your site at the time, as you directed me to. You said you had enabled the setting to change the button to an X, but that wasn’t working. I examined your site to see why this was – I found you were using a custom toggle, which would explain the scenario, so I explained to you that the setting would have no effect on that. Given what I could see, I expected that would give you all you needed to know. You didn’t tell me that you had changed things and were now using a custom toggle that you hadn’t been previously, therefore I didn’t know that. I can’t incorporate information I’m unaware of into my response. If I can’t see the actual problem you were having, I can’t assess it.
Yes, I marked this as “resolved” because at that point your question had been answered – I’d explained to you how the plugin works: you can either use the built-in toggle and take advantage of this setting, or use your own custom toggle and provide your own logic. Without further information from you, there was no reason for me to think there was anything left to resolve. As for “doing nothing”, I spent my personal time assessing your site to help you out for free (on a project you are likely being paid for), trying to determine where you were encountering an issue, and formulating a reply to try to assist you as best I could, given the information at hand. If you consider that “doing nothing”, then okay.
I would have been happy to take a look and let you know what was going on with your original question, but you changed things before I had the opportunity and didn’t update the information here to let me know. It likely would have been a simple fix.
I tried to help you, and in return I got a nasty reply.
Best of luck with your site.
