• Hi WordPress Professionals,

I am having problems with my Pages panel in WPMU environment. No themes work properly. For all themes, only the “sample page” is shown in the Pages panel.
I checked in WordPress theme preview (from network admin) and found I can only preview the “sample page” but not all pages as before.
Then I tried to preview themes on http://www.wordpress.org, I can still only preview the “sample page”. I am confused. Is wordpress.org no longer support full theme(theme with multiple pages)? Are they now only giving out the “sample page”? I also tried installing a brand new wordpress on one of my another domain hosted by the same host but got the same issue.

Please share your professional knowledge here.

    Hi Prama,

I am running WPMU and have couple of sub-domain sites and themes. I remember I import from an xml file when I tried to install a theme. But I am not convinced it is related because I cannot preview the front page even on WordPress.org and my friend cannot preview the front page either from his computer. No themes work. All the themes only has the “sample page” without proper menus and contents.

I also tried to download a theme from its official website, shopisle, for example.
The theme does contain a front-page.php. However, in my Pages panel, it only contains the “sample page”. Is there something wrong with my wordpress theme importer or installer?

    Thanks,
    Michael

In addition, I also checked my wordpress installation of 2 another domains. The same issue exists. The blog page is displayed instead of the front page.

1-Pages and Posts are not created based on theme installation.
(Some themes do provide demo content — which might create pages and posts to help give the website owner a “head start”.)
Sample page and post are part of normal WordPress initial set up, not the theme.
A website owner and/or editor would create all pages and posts.

2-It is possible to control which page is the “FRONT PAGE” in the Settings>Reading area.

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your comments. Your comment helps me understanding the concepts better.

One last question, is it normal for wordpress.org theme preview to only show the blog page instead of the home page? I am expecting to preview the home page and navigating during a theme preview.

    Best regards,
    Michael
