Where’s my content?

    I tried putting the new version of wordpress (2.7.1) but I couldn’t find how to simply update (I use a Mac). I downloaded all the original files to my computer, deleted the old version from my server. I’ve re-activated my theme, but I can’t find where the files are that have my posts and pages.

    Am I going to have to re-enter everything?

    That information is not in files…it’s in your database. If you still have the wp-config.php file from your old install, open it and you will see the database information that you will need to put in your new config file. Just open the wp-config-sample.php file in your new install, fill in the database information and then rename it wp-config.php

    As figaro said, your WordPress stuff are still there in the database (unless you deleted that one to!). To get your new installation to show the existing content, you need to use the same database information in wp-config.php as the old one.

    Also your images and other uploaded files are NOT stored in the database, so if you deleted ALL WordPress files and folders, then your images are gone. [I dealt with one such issue ealier today]
