WordPress.com Stats – Adding footer

A newbie to WP — installed Stats plugin, and applied WordPress.com API key OK. However, from the Dashboard, I’m asked to enter my username and password, but it simply recycles. To complete the installation, I note its FAQ state: “your theme must have a call to <?php wp_footer(); ?> at the very bottom right before the </body> tag.”

As a newbie, in the Dashboard where I click on Edit, I am not certain where to insert of <?php wp_footer(); ?> — I just do not see the </body> tag.
