Premalinks and Post Slug

Permalinks give you ‘nice urls’ for your posts so they look good to you, others and search engines. Instead of a string of garbage characters mixed in with your title, it’s actually readable.
You can style the type of permalink you want with the options presented on the permalinks screen.

A Post Slug is a way of altering the post title.
Say you had a post with the title “Angelina Jolie is not the sexiest woman in the world” – that’s quite a long title. You could have a post slug of “Jolie” for that, so the permalink http://www.example.com/Jolie links to that post.

Don’t worry about it too much – I don’t fully understand some of what WP does, but it works, it works well and thats good enough for me 🙂
