Are usernames required?

I’m setting up Ultimate Member for the first time.

Is it possible to eliminate the use of Usernames completely and only require users to register with and login with a unique email address?

I’m creating a custom Registration form and I see can add the field “Username or Email”, and there is a way to relabel it to read “Email”. I guess this would take the place of the standard Email field.

I’m not sure if this would work or if it would cause problems.

I’m not sure but I’m hoping there is also a way to change the Login page to only read “Email” and not “Username or Email”.
