Zluck – Lead Source Tracker

Description

Know where every lead and order came from, without sending data to Google or any other outside service.

Lead Source Tracker remembers how each visitor found your site (search, social, another website, an ad campaign or a direct visit), the page they landed on, and the pages they saw before they filled in a form or placed an order. It adds this to the emails your team receives and to WooCommerce orders, and gives developers simple functions to attach it anywhere else.

It collects:

  • IP addresses (optional)
  • Browser and device information
  • Navigation paths
  • Page view history
  • UTM parameters from marketing campaigns
  • Referrer information

Visitor data is kept in cookies in the visitor’s browser and read by your site on each page load. The only time it is saved to your database is with a WooCommerce order, so your team can see where the customer came from. The plugin never sends it to any external service.

Lead Emails (no code needed)

Add a short visitor summary (traffic source, campaign, landing page, pages visited, time on site, device and location) to the notification emails your team receives:

  • WooCommerce emails to your team, such as New order and Failed order
  • WordPress new user registration
  • Contact Form 7, WPForms, Gravity Forms, Ninja Forms, Forminator, Fluent Forms, Formidable Forms, Elementor Pro and Jetpack forms, chosen form by form
  • Any other email, such as a custom form, sent only to addresses you list

Customers never see it: plugin emails only get it when they go to the recipients set in that plugin (never an address the visitor typed in), and other emails only when every recipient is on your list.

Use the Send test email button on the Lead Emails page to see a sample summary in your own inbox.

FAQ

Is this plugin GDPR compliant?

The plugin offers privacy features to help you comply with GDPR, CCPA, and other privacy regulations:

  • Respects browser “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control signals (can be turned off in settings)
  • Respects choices made in popular consent management plugins
  • With the built-in consent banner on, only tracks visitors who click Accept
  • The plugin includes privacy policy text you can add to your site
  • You can turn off IP address collection (this also turns off geolocation)
  • Visitor data is only saved to your database with WooCommerce orders, and is included in WordPress’s personal data export and erase tools
  • Visitor data is never sent to third parties
  • The landing page is saved without its query string, except campaign tags (UTM, gclid, fbclid), so private link details such as email addresses or order keys are never kept
  • Data expires with its cookies: visit data after about 30 minutes, campaign tags after 30 days

How does the consent management work?

The plugin checks for consent before tracking in several ways:

  1. If the visitor accepted the built-in banner (lstrk_consent cookie), they are tracked
  2. If the visitor declined in a supported consent plugin, they are not tracked. If they accepted, they are tracked. Supported plugins:
    • Cookie Notice
    • Complianz GDPR/CCPA
    • GDPR Cookie Consent
    • CookieYes
  3. If “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control is on in the browser, they are not tracked (this can be turned off in settings)
  4. If the built-in consent banner is enabled, tracking is opt-in: visitors are only tracked after clicking Accept

The same rules apply in the browser and on the server, so no visitor data is collected for visitors who have not consented.

How does this plugin affect site performance?

The tracking script is optimized for minimal performance impact:
* Loaded deferred, so it does not block the page
* Session data saved at 15-second intervals
* No background requests to your server

Can I access the collected data programmatically?

Yes. The plugin provides helper functions and filters. Read the data when a form is submitted or an order is placed, and check that the plugin is active first:

if ( function_exists( 'lstrk_get_visitor_marketing_data' ) ) {
    $marketing = lstrk_get_visitor_marketing_data();
    $source    = $marketing['source']; // e.g. "google", "organic" or "direct"
}

The full function reference, data reference, hooks and copy-paste recipes (Gravity Forms, Contact Form 7, WooCommerce, emails) are under Lead Source Tracker Developer Docs in your WordPress admin.
