WP Travel Engine is an awesome plugin to convert any site to a travel site. Trips can be created with all the required info of each trips. There are several exciting features of the plugin. Some of them are:

User Guide for WP Travel Engine

  1. Creating Trips: Go to Trips > Add New to add new trips.

  2. Creating Tabs: Upon successful activation, two tabs called ‘Itinerary’ and ‘FAQs’ is created. To edit and sort the tabs, go to plugin settings i.e. Trips > WP Travel Engine Settings > Trip Tabs Settings . These tabs will appear in each of the trips.

  3. Page settings: Go to Trips > WP Travel Engine Settings > Page Settings. If you want to change it, you can change them there but the shortcode for each of the page must be in the content editor of each of the page in the backend.
    Below are the shortcodes for each of those pages:
    i. Checkout: [WP_TRAVEL_ENGINE_PLACE_ORDER]
    ii. Terms and conditions: No shortcode required.
    iii. Thank You: [WP_TRAVEL_ENGINE_THANK_YOU]
    iv. Confirmation Page: [WP_TRAVEL_ENGINE_BOOK_CONFIRMATION]

  4. Email: To configure Email settings, go to Trips > WP Travel Engine Settings > Emails. You can modify the email template for trip booker as well as admin with available settings. Email can be sent to multiple admins as well.

  5. Miscellaneous:
    i. Currency: To change the currency, go to Trips > WP Travel Engine Settings > Misc. The chosen currency will be used in all the costing and pricing process.
    ii. Book Now Button: All the book now button label will be changed by this settings. To change it, go to Trips > WP Travel Engine Settings > Misc.
    iii. Booking Confirmation Message: Message to show to the trip booker on successful booking. To change it, go to Trips > WP Travel Engine Settings > Misc.

How is trip booked with WP Travel Engine?

  1. From a trip page, select number of travelers from the price holder.
  2. Click on the “Check Availability” button.
  3. Now, user can select any future date from the calendar that will appear after clicking “Pick a date” input box.
  4. After completing the above process, user can now click on the “Book Now” button.
  5. Upon clicking “Book Now”, user will be redirected to “Checkout” page where the info of the trip booker is required (a form should be fill up).
  6. After submitting the above form, user is then redirected to “Travelers Information” page where email is sent automatically to the admin as well as the trip booker regarding trip details.
  7. Also the info of all the travelers is to be filled up along with their emergency contact details in the same page (Travelers Information).
  8. Finally, after submitting the above form, user is redirected to “Thank You” page where all the booking details is shown along with the thank you message as well as trip details. And hence, booking process ends.

Installation

Uploading in WordPress Dashboard

  1. Navigate to the ‘Add New’ in the plugins dashboard
  2. Navigate to the ‘Upload’ area
  3. Select wp-travel-engine.zip from your computer
  4. Click ‘Install Now’
  5. Activate the plugin in the Plugin dashboard

Using FTP

  1. Download wp-travel-engine.zip
  2. Extract the wp-travel-engine directory to your computer
  3. Upload the wp-travel-engine directory to the /wp-content/plugins/ directory
  4. Activate the plugin in the Plugin dashboard

What will happen after activation?

A menu called ‘Trips’ will appear in the dashboard and this menu will consists of submenus associated with the plugin.
Upon activation, all the required pages are created automatically with two tabs for each of the trips to show trips info. So, all you have to do is create trips and publish them in your website.

What is each sub menu of WP Travel Engine concerned with?
  1. All Trips: Shows the list of all the created trips.
  2. Add New: Click to create new trip.
  3. Categories: Click to create or list out the trip categories.
  4. All Bookings: Shows all the bookings done successfully with all the travelers info as well as cost, trip date, booked trip and other info.
  5. All Customers: Shows all the trip booker list with individual trip booker info. Also shows trip booker history with total spent as well as all the bookings done by each of the trip booker.
  6. WP Travel Engine Settings: Main settings page of the plugin. Allows user to set pages, tabs, email settings, as well as other settings.
