Description
WC Internal Links is a WordPress internal linking plugin built for editors and SEO teams that want useful suggestions without giving up editorial control.
It helps you find places to add internal links, identify orphaned and weakly linked content, review natural anchor text, and maintain links from inside WordPress.
Nothing is inserted automatically. You choose the links you want to add.
WC Internal Links is developed by Wild Creek Web Studio, an award-winning SEO and digital marketing strategy agency.
For more information about the plugin, including features, documentation, and updates, visit the WC Internal Links plugin page.
Find links to a post
Choose a page you want to strengthen. WC Internal Links searches existing published content for natural places that can link to that page.
You can review the source page, sentence context, suggested anchor text, and relevance before adding the link.
Find links from a post
Open a post or page and find relevant destinations it can link to. Suggestions appear inside the WordPress editor, where you can edit the anchor text and select only the links you want.
Fix orphaned content
The dedicated Orphaned Posts workflow shows published content with no inbound internal links. Open an orphan, review suggested source pages, and add approved links.
See link counts in WordPress
WC Internal Links adds inbound and outbound internal-link counts to supported WordPress content list screens. You can open linking workflows directly from Posts and Pages.
Use existing SEO focus keywords
When you have not saved WC Internal Links keywords for a post, the plugin can use focus keywords from:
- Rank Math
- Yoast SEO
- Yoast SEO Premium related keyphrases
- SEOPress
You can also enter your own preferred anchor phrases.
Local relevance analysis
Suggestions are generated on your WordPress site. WC Internal Links uses local statistical relevance analysis to shortlist related content and find natural anchor phrases.
It does not send post content to an external AI service or vector database.
Link maintenance tools
The plugin can also:
- Report weakly linked content.
- Check internal and external links in controlled batches.
- Remove a reported link while preserving its anchor text.
- Preview and replace an old internal URL inside selected posts.
- Create WordPress revisions before server-side content changes.
- Track plugin-managed link changes.
- Ignore utility or non-strategic posts and restore them later.
- Limit suggestions and internal links per post.
- Avoid headings, existing linked text, and overlapping anchor suggestions.
WC Internal Links loads its CSS and JavaScript only in WordPress administration and editor screens where the plugin is used.
Privacy
WC Internal Links stores its link index, local relevance data, link-check results, settings, and change history in the site’s WordPress database.
The plugin does not transmit post content or personal data to Wild Creek Web Studio.
When external-link checking is enabled, the site makes HTTP requests to the external URLs being checked. Those requests are required to determine link status.

FAQ
-
Does WC Internal Links add links automatically?
-
No. Inbound and outbound suggestions require editorial approval. You decide which links get added.
-
Can it find internal links to a new or existing page?
-
Yes. Open Find Links to a Post or use Find links to this post from the WordPress content list. The plugin checks published content for natural places that could link to the selected destination.
-
Can it find links from the post I am editing?
-
Yes. Use Find links from this post in the WC Internal Links editor panel. You can review, edit, select, and add the suggestions you want.
-
How does it handle orphaned pages?
-
The Fix Orphaned Posts screen lists supported published content with zero inbound internal links. Each orphan can open directly into the inbound-link workflow.
-
Which SEO plugins can provide default internal-link keywords?
-
WC Internal Links can read focus keywords from Rank Math, Yoast SEO, Yoast SEO Premium related keyphrases, and SEOPress when the WC Internal Links keyword field is empty. Manually saved WC Internal Links keywords take priority.
-
Does it use AI or send my content to an external service?
-
No. Suggestion and relevance analysis run locally on your WordPress site. The plugin does not send post content to the plugin author or to an external AI service.
-
Does the broken-link checker make external requests?
-
Yes. When external-link checking is enabled, WordPress sends HTTP requests to the URLs being checked so the plugin can record their response status. Post content is not sent to the plugin author.
-
Does the URL changer create redirects?
-
No. It updates selected links inside post content. Create any required 301 redirect separately through your server, SEO plugin, or redirect plugin.
-
Does the plugin delete its data when uninstalled?
-
No, not by default. This protects against accidental data loss. To remove the plugin tables and options during uninstall, define
WCIL_REMOVE_DATA_ON_UNINSTALLastrueinwp-config.phpbefore uninstalling.
