VelocityIndex Lite

Description

VelocityIndex Lite submits your URLs directly to the IndexNow API, which notifies Bing, Yandex, Naver, and Seznam that your page changed — so they can crawl it sooner instead of waiting for organic discovery.

Important: IndexNow confirms your URL was received. Each search engine independently decides if, when, and how it indexes your page — this plugin submits, it does not guarantee indexing or ranking.

No API keys, no account, no quota — the IndexNow verification key is generated automatically and hosted on your own domain.

Features

  • IndexNow Protocol — One submission notifies Bing, Yandex, Naver & Seznam simultaneously
  • Zero Configuration — IndexNow key is auto-generated and served on your domain (physical file or WordPress route, whichever your setup needs)
  • Sitemap Import — Discover and queue URLs from your XML sitemap or sitemap index, with built-in safety limits
  • Background Queue — Automatic processing via WP Cron with retry on temporary errors
  • Submission Logs — Track every submission with status and response codes
  • Modern Dashboard — Clean admin interface with real-time stats
  • Free & Unlimited — No submission limits, no account required
  • Privacy-respecting — Usage stats and AI tips are off by default and opt-in via Settings

How It Works

  1. Install and activate the plugin
  2. Enter a URL and click “Index Now”
  3. Your URL is submitted to the IndexNow API — Bing, Yandex, Naver & Seznam are notified

That’s it. No account, no API keys — the plugin generates and hosts your IndexNow verification key automatically.

VelocityIndex Pro

Pro is a separate plugin with its own plans. It adds, among other things:

  • Google Indexing API — only for the page types Google officially supports (job postings and livestream BroadcastEvent video pages)
  • AI models for SEO content analysis
  • Keyword Rank Tracker
  • Google Search Console + GA4 Analytics integration
  • Competitor Intelligence and Velocity Score (10-category SEO audit)
  • Baidu submission and agency features (white-label, sub-accounts)

Current plans, pricing, and feature details always live on the official pricing page. Purchasing happens on velocityindex.ai — never inside this free plugin.

External Services

This plugin connects to external services. Below is a full disclosure of what is sent, when, and why. Only the IndexNow submission is part of the plugin’s core function; everything else is optional and off by default.

IndexNow API (required for the core function)

  • Service: IndexNow
  • URL: https://api.indexnow.org/indexnow
  • When: Each time you submit a URL (directly or via the queue)
  • Purpose: Notify Bing, Yandex, Naver, and Seznam that your URL changed — each engine decides whether to index it
  • Data sent: URL to be indexed, your site’s hostname, your auto-generated IndexNow key, and the key-file location on your domain
  • Privacy Policy / docs: indexnow.org/faq (IndexNow is an open protocol; the endpoint is operated by Microsoft)

VelocityIndex AI SEO Tip (optional, off by default)

  • Service: VelocityIndex (processed by Mistral AI)
  • URL: https://velocityindex.ai/wp-json/velocity/v1/lite/seo-tip
  • When: Only when you enable “AI SEO tips” in Settings and a submission succeeds — never otherwise
  • Purpose: Generate an SEO improvement tip for the submitted URL
  • Data sent: The submitted URL and your site URL — URLs may contain personal data in their path or query string
  • AI model: Mistral ministral-8b (processed on VelocityIndex servers); tips are cached locally for 24 hours
  • Privacy Policy: velocityindex.ai/privacy-policy
  • Mistral AI terms: mistral.ai/terms

VelocityIndex Usage Stats (optional, off by default)

  • Service: VelocityIndex
  • URL: https://velocityindex.ai/wp-json/velocity/v1/lite/ping
  • When: After a successful URL submission — only if you explicitly opt in via the dashboard banner or Settings (non-blocking request)
  • Purpose: Usage statistics for product improvement
  • Data sent: Site URL, submitted URL, engine result (success/fail), plugin version, WordPress version, PHP version. URLs may contain personal data in their path or query string.
  • Data NOT sent: email addresses or names
  • Privacy Policy: velocityindex.ai/privacy-policy
  • Terms: velocityindex.ai/terms-of-service

The IndexNow key is auto-generated locally and stored in your WordPress database. It is only shared with IndexNow as required by the protocol, and served publicly at /{key}.txt on your own domain for ownership verification — it is not a secret credential.

  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.

FAQ

Does it work without API keys?

Yes. The IndexNow protocol needs no account or API key. A verification key is generated automatically and served at /{key}.txt on your domain — required by the protocol for ownership verification. The plugin serves it itself, and also writes a physical file when your webroot is writable.

Do I need to create an account or register?

No. The plugin is fully functional without any registration. When you submit a URL, it goes directly from your site to the IndexNow API — no intermediate server is required.

Is there a submission limit?

No. URL submission is free and unlimited. The background queue processes URLs in small batches with automatic retries to be a good network citizen — those are technical protections, not a paid quota.

Does it submit to Google?

Lite submits via IndexNow only (Bing, Yandex, Naver, Seznam). Google is not part of IndexNow. The separate Pro plugin supports the Google Indexing API for the page types Google officially allows: job postings and livestream (BroadcastEvent) video pages.

What data is collected?

For the core function, the IndexNow API receives: the submitted URL, your site’s hostname, your IndexNow key, and the key-file location on your domain. Nothing else is required.

Two optional features are off by default and can be enabled/changed anytime in VelocityIndex Settings:

  • Usage statistics — sends your site URL, the submitted URL, the engine result, and plugin/WordPress/PHP versions to VelocityIndex after a successful submission. Note: URLs can contain personal data in their path or query string.
  • AI SEO tips — sends the submitted URL and your site URL to the VelocityIndex API (processed by Mistral AI) when you request a tip after a submission. Tips are cached locally for 24 hours.

See the External Services section for full details.

Does it work with any WordPress site?

Yes, including subdirectory installations and multisite networks (network activation supported; each site gets its own tables, settings, and IndexNow key).

Is it compatible with Yoast SEO, RankMath, etc.?

Yes. VelocityIndex handles URL submission only and does not conflict with any SEO plugin.

What happens when I uninstall?

All plugin data — its own database tables, options, cached AI tips, and scheduled tasks — is cleanly removed, on single sites and multisite networks alike.

Changelog

1.3.9

  • Review fix: all plugin-owned identifiers now use the unique veloli prefix (the previous three-letter prefix was too short). Includes an automatic migration that moves existing options, tables, transients, and cron events to the new names — no data is lost on upgrade.

1.3.8

  • Submission tooling: Plugin URI now points to the dedicated plugin page to satisfy the directory’s Plugin-URI/Author-URI uniqueness rule.

1.3.7

  • Addressed WordPress.org pre-review findings: page styles are now added via wp_add_inline_style() on the plugin stylesheet handle instead of inline <style> tags; consent-row markup is escaped with wp_kses_post(); Author URI now points to the plugin’s own domain (the previous author domain had an invalid SSL certificate).

1.3.6

  • Free core function without limits: removed the 2/month, 1/day and 600-second local quotas. Manual submission and the queue now share one path straight to IndexNow — the intermediate VelocityIndex submit-proxy was removed from the required flow.
  • Security: external API and AI text is rendered as text, never as HTML; response types and lengths are validated; cached tips are validated on read.
  • Sitemap import hardened: http(s)-only, public-IP host validation (SSRF protection) on every hop, redirect revalidation, cycle protection, and explicit limits for depth, requests, response size, URLs, and time. Partial imports are reported honestly.
  • IndexNow key fixed for subdirectory home URLs and plain permalinks — a physical key file is written when the webroot allows it.
  • Queue rebuilt: atomic job claims with leases, stale-lease recovery, deduplication of active jobs, bounded retries with exponential backoff, and honest insert/update checks.
  • Time handling: all stored times are UTC; existing logs/jobs are migrated using the site’s per-date timezone offset.
  • Multisite: network activation, new-site initialization, deactivation, and uninstall now handle all sites correctly.
  • Privacy: AI tips and usage stats are separate, off-by-default options with a persistent Settings toggle; consent changes save with verification.
  • Admin UX: third-party/core admin notices are no longer hidden; the dashboard refreshes without a page reload; double-submit is prevented.
  • Docs: corrected indexing claims — a submission confirms receipt, not indexing; Google Indexing API scope noted; WordPress 6.2 minimum everywhere.

1.3.5

  • New: Submissions are orchestrated through the VelocityIndex platform API (server-side IndexNow submit with your own key, retries + engine fallbacks). Direct IndexNow submit remains as fallback.

1.3.4

  • New: “Reset usage counters” button on Settings page — resets your monthly/daily counters and pending queue for testing

1.3.3

  • Cleanup: removes legacy veloli_registered_* options left over from the removed registration flow

1.3.2

  • Changed: Removed registration requirement — the free plugin works immediately, no account needed (WordPress.org guideline compliance)
  • Changed: Usage stats ping is now opt-in only and fully anonymous (no email/personal data sent)
  • New: IndexNow key verification file is served automatically at /{key}.txt — no manual file upload needed
  • Improved: Plugin description no longer implies Google support (Google is Pro-only)

1.3.1

  • New: IndexNow key file serving via template_redirect (no filesystem writes needed)

1.3.0

  • New: AI SEO Tip — Mistral AI analyzes your URL after each submission and provides a tailored SEO recommendation
  • New: AI analysis powered by Mistral ministral-8b (fastest model) via VelocityIndex central API
  • New: AI tips cached locally for 24 hours to minimize API calls
  • Improved: Submit result stays visible longer (5s) to show AI analysis

  • New: AI Indexing Swarm card with icon grid
