Description
Add Google Analytics tracking values to URLS posted by the Twitter Tools plugin.
Installation
You must already be using the Twitter Tools plugin to post to twitter when you make a new blog entry.
- Upload the Plugin to the
/wp-content/plugins/
directory - Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress
- Campaign/Source/Medium data will start to show in your Google Analytics account.

The plugin sets the following Google Analytics Tags:

+ utm_medium : twitter

- Why should I use this plugin?

Generally hits from twitter will show up in Google Analytics as “Direct Traffic” – which means you can’t measure the effectiveness of your Twitter profile. Tagging your traffic lets you measure the hits coming from Twitter effectively – see my original post on the subject for more information.
