Turnatoc – Table of Contents

Description

Turnatoc adds a table of contents to your posts and pages: automatically, with a shortcode, with a block or with a widget.

Switching from LuckyWP Table of Contents

LuckyWP Table of Contents has not been updated since April 2025. If you used it, your posts contain its [lwptoc] shortcodes and blocks, and other pages link to your headings (for example #How_to_start). When that plugin is removed, the shortcodes show up as plain text, the blocks disappear and those links stop working.

Turnatoc takes over without editing any post:

  • [lwptoc] shortcodes and its blocks are displayed by Turnatoc.
  • Heading links (#…) are generated with the same rules, so existing links keep working.
  • The table of contents has the same HTML and CSS classes, so the page looks the same, including your own CSS.
  • Its general settings and per-post settings are imported with one click. A preview shows what will be imported before anything is written. The import can be undone.
  • Its data is never changed. While both plugins are active, each table of contents is still shown once.

Tools > Import table of contents: Preview, then Import. Check a few posts, then deactivate the old plugin.

What is kept as it was: on posts whose headings get no anchors, the links in the old widget go to the top of the page; on classic themes, the colors set on a block are not applied when another table of contents is shown after it. Turnatoc keeps these as they were, so your pages do not change.

Features

  • Automatic insertion (post types, position), shortcode [turna_toc], block, widget.
  • Minimum number of headings, depth, skip headings by level or text.
  • Hierarchical or flat list; decimal or Roman numbering, nested or not.
  • Show/hide toggle, smooth scroll with offset.
  • Width, float, font sizes, color schemes and custom colors.
  • Hash formats: heading text (transliterated or not), counter; lowercase, dashes.
  • noindex wrapper, rel=”nofollow”.
  • Per-post settings.
  • English and Turkish.

Not tested

Page builders (Elementor, Beaver Builder, Oxygen), Toolset Views, WPML and themes that override the old plugin’s templates were not tested with Turnatoc. The old plugin had special code for some of them; Turnatoc does not include it.

Privacy

Turnatoc does not send any data anywhere and does not load anything from other sites.

FAQ

Do I have to edit my posts?

No. [lwptoc] shortcodes and blocks stay in your posts and are displayed by Turnatoc.

Will links to my headings break?

No. The anchors are generated with the same rules as before. The import screen lists what is imported.

Can I go back?

Yes. “Undo import” restores the settings of Turnatoc to how they were before the import. The old plugin’s data was never changed; activate it again and everything is as before.

Can I delete the old plugin?

After you have checked your pages, yes. Deleting it removes its general settings, but Turnatoc has its own copy.
