Description
Your site sends the emails customers wait for: password resets, contact form replies, order confirmations. If those land in spam, nobody complains. People just stop getting them, and you lose orders and sign-ups without knowing why.
This plugin sends a test email from your site the same way the site sends all its mail, then shows where it landed and what to fix.
What you get
- Where your email lands. Inbox, Spam or Promotions at Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo and other big providers.
- A score and a plan. A score out of 100 and a short list of fixes in plain language, with the exact DNS records to copy. The DNS check also works before you send anything.
- Your real emails, tested. Password reset, new user, comment moderation and, with WooCommerce, the order emails. They are filled with a made-up customer and a reset link that resets nothing, so no customer’s data is in the test. You can also paste your own email, such as a newsletter.
- Proof that a fix worked. Every test stays in the history, with the score over time and what changed since the last one.
- A watch on your mail (optional). Each new kind of email your site sends gets checked, and the Monitoring page and the dashboard widget show an alert when, say, WooCommerce emails start failing authentication.
Works with how your site already sends
This is not an SMTP plugin and changes nothing in your mail setup. It tests what you use now, whether that is the server’s own mail or WP Mail SMTP, FluentSMTP, Post SMTP or another SMTP plugin, and its advice takes that into account.
Behind the report are the checks receivers run: SPF, DKIM, DMARC, the sending server, blocklists, spam filters and the Gmail and Yahoo sender rules. You also get Site Health checks, a dashboard widget and a WP-CLI command (wp deliverability-tester test).
Free to use right now, with daily limits per site that you can see under Settings; when the day’s folder checks are used up, a test runs without one. There is no account to create and no API key to enter.
External services
The plugin works with Email Spam Tester, an email testing service run by the plugin’s author. Nothing is sent until an administrator presses “Connect this site”. After that:
- Connecting sends the WordPress and plugin versions, the number of sites and, if you enter one, a contact email. The site is registered under an id that does not reveal its address; the site’s name and address reach the service inside the test emails.
- Each test sends the test email, plus about 30 copies when the folder check is on. At Gmail these copies go to public test mailboxes run by another company, named in the privacy policy, where anyone can see the subject, the sender name and the folder.
- With each test go the sending domain, the From and Return-Path addresses, the administrator’s language, how WordPress sends (mail() or SMTP, the SMTP host and plugin name, never a password) and the mail server’s answer if it refused the email, with addresses removed.
- The DNS check on the Test page sends the domain, the SMTP host and, if the administrator’s email is on the same domain, that address, proposed as the DMARC report address.
- Monitoring, only if you switch it on, sends the sender and subject of each email the site sends; a copy of the first email of each new kind, with the recipients’ domains and the plugin that sent it; and for emails that failed to send, their number, the plugin and the server’s answer. Copies are deleted after two days, their reports after 90 days, and those reports are private to the site.
Anyone with the link can open a test report. See the terms and the privacy policy.

Installation
- Install and activate the plugin.
- Go to Deliverability Tester in the admin menu and press Connect this site.
- Choose an email and press Send the test. The report appears on the same page within a minute or two; the folder check takes about half an hour.
FAQ
-
Does it change my DNS or my email settings?
-
No. It shows the records to add at your DNS provider, with a Copy button. Your SMTP plugin’s settings are only read.
-
Does monitoring change the emails my site sends?
-
The original email goes out unchanged. A separate copy goes to a private address at Email Spam Tester through the same
wp_mail(), without Cc or Bcc recipients and without attachments. -
Will the folder check use my SMTP provider’s quota?
-
Yes: about 30 emails per test with the folder check, one without it.
-
Does it work with my SMTP plugin?
-
The test goes through
wp_mail(), so whatever your SMTP plugin does to email, it does to the test. The plugin recognises the settings of WP Mail SMTP, FluentSMTP, Post SMTP and Easy WP SMTP, and the SMTP host of any plugin that uses PHPMailer. -
Multisite?
-
Each site connects on its own and has its own history.
